Hanover School Division recognizes its responsibility to promote a healthy lifestyle and ensure a smoke, tobacco, and vape-free environment for the health and welfare of students, staff, and visitors. All schools in the Hanover School Division are vape-free. Vaping is not permitted in schools or on school property. Students caught vaping in the school or on school grounds are in violation of Manitoba law and are in breach of student conduct rules. Consequences of such actions may include but are not limited to; confiscation of the vape, disciplinary meeting, and suspension from school.
One of our grade 8 students, Finley was recognized in the @steinbach_online. SMS is an inclusive school that focuses on our students strengths and abilities. We are so proud of Finley and his teammates for showing kindness, compassion and being awesome! Way to go Team!
February, we commemorate Black History. SMS will participate in learning and sharing about events, both current and past to honour the legacy of Black people in Canada and our communities.
Did you hear? The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! You can also join us online through our Virtual Book Fair extension. Your purchases will help bring in new resources for our school and keep kids reading! Open from December 5th – 9th.
SMS will be holding a Remembrance Day Ceremony with all students and staff on November 10th at 11:00 am. Our focus this year is on Canada’s role in peace keeping.
SMS is holding Student Council Executive Elections on October 25, 2022. The grade 8 students will vote for their executive team to lead their school. Grade level student representatives will be selected in their homerooms. Best wishes for all the candidates! You all are leaders!
