Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is with great excitement that we have begun planning and preparing for the return of our grade 7 & 8 students on a daily basis effective April 19th, 2021.

As you can appreciate, this does entail additional precautions as our 2m distancing must still be in place.  Therefore we have made the following changes:

  • The cohort consisting of 7D/7H/7J will have an added classroom – 7R – made up of students from the other 3 homerooms.  We will do our best to ensure students will keep connections with friends.  Mr. Mark Reimer will be their homeroom teacher instructing ELA and Social Studies with Mrs. LaRae Driedger being the teaching partner instructing Math and Science.
  • 7K & 7W will become a triad with a group of students from both classes combining to become 7KW.  Their teachers will remain the same with Ms. Warkentin and Mr. Wiebe. This third location will be in Room 6 – directly across from Mr. Wiebe’s room.
  • 8D & 8M will become a triad with a group of students from both classes combining to become 8DM.  Their teachers will remain the same with Mrs. Desautels and Ms. Mathew. This third location will be in Hut 14 – directly across from Ms Mathew’s room.
  • 8N & 8S will become a triad with a group of students from both classes combining to become 8NS.  Their teachers will remain the same with Ms. Nemeth and Mr. Shumsky. This third location will be in the Library – directly across from Mr. Shumsky’s room.
  • 8G & 8T will become a triad with a group of students from both classes combining to become 8GT.  Their teachers will remain the same with Mr. Goertzen and Mr. North.  This third location will be in the Makerspace Lab – directly across from Mr. Goertzen’s room.
  • Students will be supervised at all times.
  • Breaks will be reduced from 30 minutes to 15 minutes, but physed will be increased from once / cycle (now) to twice / cycle, plus an additional Outdoor Education period per cycle.
  • Art will resume with Mrs. Loewen
  • Band will commence with the warmer weather outside.

We understand that there may be mixed feelings as we bring our kids back every day. However, if we plan appropriately, we can continue to provide a safe, caring and supportive learning environment for all of our students.  We are really looking forward to this opportunity. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We will let you know if there are any further changes needed as per provincial COVID protocols.

We wish you all a restful spring break.

Stay safe!
